ABOUT ME
Dina Rasquinha
Ecosystem Carbon Specialist, Global Science, World Wildlife Fund for Nature
My research interests come together around the question of how ecosystems recover from disturbances and adapt to the changing climate. I blend creativity and science to conduct research using theory and techniques from geography, and ecology. I graduated from the Dept of Geography and Integrative Conservation at the University of Georgia, USA. For my dissertation, I conducted place-based research on the east coast of India to understand how disturbances impact blue carbon systems such as mangroves in protected areas. In the past I’ve worked on savanna ecosystems, collaborated with non-profits in their pursuit against poorly planned projects in ecologically sensitive areas, and spent field time with pastoral tribes to experience traditional knowledge systems and imbibe a deeper understanding of human-environment interactions. |

WORK
I’m an ecosystem scientist working towards contributing to the knowledge base and science outreach of coupled human-environment systems.
I use ecology, GIS and remote sensing methods, to research coupled human-environment systems.
